Gye-geun Woo

Gyekeun Woo had a long career in the Ministry of Unification, spanning over 30 years. During this time, Dr. Woo served in various roles, including positions in the Unification Policy Office, the Information and Analysis Bureau, the Planning and Management Office, the Inter-Korean Dialogue Office, the Korean Energy Development Organization Light Water Reactor Project Board, the Inter-Korean Transit Office, and the North Korean Refugees Settlement Support Office.
His responsibilities encompassed promoting unification policy, analyzing information on North Korea, supporting inter-Korean talks, educating and assisting North Korean refugees, and facilitating the transit of people and goods between North and South Korea.
Dr. Woo has traveled to North Korea more than ten times to support the KEDO light water reactor project, facilitate inter-Korean exchanges and cooperation, and organize the reunions of separated families. Additionally, he has assisted in the provision of humanitarian aid to North Korea.
Dr. Woo holds a B.A. in French language and literature and an M.A. in political science from Hankook University of Foreign Studies, as well as a Ph.D. in international politics from the University of Paris X.
