Myung-Soo Lee
Director
Myung-Soo Lee is a senior fellow at the US-Asia Law Institute of NYU School of Law. Additionally, Dr. Lee serves on the board of directors of the Korea Council for Peace and Cooperation and as the executive director of the Board of Mission Assisting Programs Global, a non-profit supporting multicultural communities in Korea, including North Korean defectors.
Dr. Lee is an accomplished academic and legal professional. She held esteemed academic positions, including serving as a McArthur scholar and research associate at Harvard University's Center for International Affairs, as well as assistant director and director of research of East Asian Legal Studies at Harvard Law School. Additionally, she was a research fellow at New York University School of Law.
Dr. Lee's professional background includes working on legal training programs for North Korean officials and conducting research projects related to North Korea and international law. Furthermore, she has been actively involved in various community organizations, such as serving on the board of the Geneva School of Manhattan, being a core member of World Aid New York, and leading the women's ministry at Times Square Church.
She is also an active speaker at numerous conferences organized by academic, public interest, and governmental entities. She has authored various publications on North Korea's engagement with the international community, public international law issues related to the rule of law and the advancement of human rights, as well as comparative legal analysis involving East Asian countries.
Dr. Lee earned her education from Korea University and Harvard Law School, where she specialized in law, public international law, and conflict resolution/negotiation.
